John, I had a Drake 2B in the 60's and it was a great receiver.  I gave it away in the early 1980s...wish I still had it.  Here's a photo of me at age 15 or 16 in 1967 or 1968.  My friend (now) Dr. Ed Watters N3EW is on the left, and me, Frank Cahill WB4RVL, on the right.  We were giving a demo on ham radio as part of the science club at the Severn School in Severna Park , MD.  We both had Heath DX-60s and Ed had a Hallicrafters SX-28 receiver.  We both still play with radios and see each other on a regular basis.  73, Frank Cahill WB4RVL
