The NJARC Tube Program:

Yes, tubes are getting hard to find, but our Tube Program offers members access to a great selection of new and used-tested vacuum tubes at bargain prices. Much of our inventory is obtained through generous donations from members excess inventory. We also purchase tubes at auction and elsewhere to keep up our inventory of the less common types.

Every vacuum tube in our inventory has been cleaned, tested and boxed by volunteer labor, and tubes are sold at low member-only prices. Because of this, tubes from the NJARC tube program are for personal restoration use only, not for resale. Our tubes are priced well below market value, with most common tubes selling for only a dollar each, and rarer pieces at a significant discount compared to commercial sources.

The NJARC Tube Program is administered by Gary D'Amico. Gary brings a large selection of the most commonly-requested tubes to each meeting and to every swapmeet. Capacitors and resistors are the most commonly needed parts for any electronic restoration and our Programs make these parts available at member-only prices. We maintain an inventory of the most commonly-needed sizes of capacitors and resistors and buy in bulk so these parts are always available at wholesale prices to our members.

Resistor Program

The NJARC Resistor Program is administered by Walt Heskes. Walt brings a good selection of resistors to each meeting and repair clinic.

We have a complete set of Rider's manuals available and individual schematics can be requested for use by members on their restoration projects. .

NJARC Radio Repair Clinics:

Our Repair and Restoration Clinics are held several times a year. These are all-day (10 am - 4 pm) events are usually conducted at our regular meeting location in Princeton. Some are conducted as "members only" events, and some are open to the public. Specific information about upcoming workshops is posted on the home page of this website and is announced in our newsletter The Jersey Broadcaster. Members are encouraged to sign up to bring a restoration project for evaluation. Club members with expertise in different areas of radio restoration volunteer their time to serve as instructors and problem-solvers. (Note: volunteers are requested to arrive at 9 am for setup.)

For those sessions open to the public: Please register ahead of time (email or call Phil Vourtsis at 732.446.2427 to reserve a one-hour time slot with an expert. The club will provide you with a comprehensive evaluation of your radio and recommendations regarding it's restoration and repair. Often, the problem is very simple -- so you might even leave with a working radio!

Members of the public are encouraged to join NJARC to have the opportunity to develop the basic skills which will allow you to perform many simple radio repairs.

We conduct a "Beginner's Workshop" for those new to radio collecting and repair. Workshop schedules are announced at meetings, in our newsletter and on our website as they are scheduled.

Our volunteer instructors will have test equipment available such as meters, signal generators and oscilloscopes. Members are requested, however, to each bring a basic set of tools with them for use on their project: screwdrivers, wrenches, wire cutters, soldering iron, etc.
