Electrola Borgia II – Parting Out: Grille and Back Panels

I’m more of a stuff-new-capacitors-inside-the-old-shells type of a collector than anything else, so this is the first time I’ve parted out a set. Trust me, this one was beyond saving. This thing was a beast. I found out that it was exactly 1/8 of an inch larger than the side door opening to my van, and after spending a considerable amount of time pushing and shoving it, enough wood shaved off from the trim as it went in to fit exactly… and I had sore muscles for almost a week. But hopefully these parts can continue to live on, breathing new life into another Electrola out there.

This lot consists of the backs and the speaker grill. These are in useable condition, but far from mint. The back is weathered, but not rotted, delaminated or otherwise more suitable for compost than restoration purposes. The grille is in pretty good shape, but you’d probably want to revitalize or replace the finish. As you can see in the pictures, the cloth is beyond useless. There are two pieces of trim you can see that are missing from one of the back pieces, but I have these trim pieces and they are in ok condition and will be included.

See my other listings for more parts from this machine.

I’ll try to answer any questions, but what you see here is pretty much what you get. If I don’t answer your emails, it may be because I’ve succumbed to the Hanta virus from the copious amounts of mouse fluff found inside the cabinet. I can include the mouse fluff with your purchase if you like, but it will increase the shipping costs substantially due to its great volume!

Please bid on this stuff knowing that it is old, has been sadly neglected and is being sold in “as-is” condition. That having been said, if you’re unhappy with your purchase for any reason, you can return it for a refund of the bid price. I’m a collector, not a dealer, and I try hard to treat people fairly and keep everyone happy. I prefer PayPal payments, but I will also accept checks and money orders. I’ll ship via whatever method you prefer, but I’ll ship UPS unless you specify otherwise. I charge whatever the shipping service charges me. I don’t quote inflated shipping costs and I don’t add any arbitrary “handling” or other fees. I’ll ship as soon as I can, and I usually am able to ship quickly, but because this is not my business, it can take me a few days to get things packed up and shipped out sometimes. I pack very, very carefully and have had very, very few problems with damage during shipment, but insurance is at your option and recommended since if the shipper loses or trashes your new treasures on the way to you, that’s one thing I won’t be responsible for.

I’ve also got leftover wooden parts from the set. These aren’t listed, but if you’re the winning bidder (or even if you’re not) these are available to anyone who can use them for the cost of postage. This includes the two front doors (badly warped), the two lids (maybe useable, but pretty wretched), the wooden deck panel which holds many of the controls, and I also saved the decorative top front part of the cabinet. This stuff is all going to the dump soon, so if you’re interested, please let me know right away.

I hope you can use these parts to get help your Electrola going. Enjoy the auction and feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Thanks for bidding on my stuff!

Here's the front panel, not included in this auction, but available if anyone wants:

I inadvertently left out pictures of one of the back panels. You can click here for some more pictures of the other panel and the extra wooden parts. Both back panels are included in this auction. Any and all of the extra wood (lids, doors, etc.) are available to the winning bidder if wanted, or if not then to anyone else who can use them.

This lot is going to weigh in at approximately 15 pounds or so packed very well. You can estimate the shipping cost with your carrier of choice from the originating zip code 07054. Because of the fragile nature of the grille, you may wish to have me pack it more aggressivley. If so, that will increase the shipping weight. Let's discuss after the auction to be sure you're comfortable with the shipping arrangements and you're happy with this when it arrives.
